Opened September 15, 1990 the Guilford Native American Art Gallery is a fine art gallery concerned with promoting, exhibiting and selling, the very best traditional and contemporary American Indian or Native American art.

This is the first Native American Fine Art Gallery of its kind in North Carolina and the southeastern United States. It is one of the first galleries owned and managed by American Indians as a part of a community arts center.

Through annual exhibitions, multi-disciplinary art programs and education programs, the Gallery will set realistic and meaningful standards and provide interaction for artists and audiences.

"Art has the capacity to lift people's spirits. Culture is an essential ingredient to any improvement in social and economic conditions.
For that reason the special status of Native peoples must be acknowledged and protected not only in a constitutional context but also in a cultural context."
